HOW TO: Setup Push Mail on Your iPhone

Push Mail is a fantastic service for the iPhone. Once enabled, your iPhone will receive your emails as soon as they reach your inbox. You don’t need to check your inbox to see if there’s any mail waiting.
Here you will find the setup process for Push Mail on the iPhone. It’s important that you follow the process to ensure Push Mail works properly.

The process does look a little long, but it should only take you a minute or two to setup.

  • Before we begin, you will need:A hosting account with WPA
  • An activesync email address that has been setup in your hosting control panel
  • The password for the email account


Let’s get started! Here’s what you need to do on your iPhone.

  • Tap the ‘Settings’ icon.
  • Tap ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’.
  • Tap ‘Add Account…’
  • Tap ‘Microsoft Exchange’.
  • Enter your email address in the ‘Email’ box.
  • Leave the ‘Domain’ box blank.
  • Enter your email address in the ‘Username’ box.
  • Enter your email password in the ‘Password’ box.
  • You can change the ‘Description’ if you want, or leave it as the default.
  • Tap ‘Next’ at the top of the screen.
  • You may get an message saying ‘Unable to Verify Certificate’. Tap ‘Cancel’.
  • Enter your domain name in the ’server’ box. For example, mail.yourdomain.com.au. Don’t include www at the start.
  • Tap ‘Next’ at the top of the screen.
  • Ignore the message about the verification failure. Tap ‘Next’ again.
  • Tap ‘Save’.
  • On the next screen, choose what is to be synchronised (Mail: on, Contacts: on, Calendars: on).
  • Tap ‘Done’ at the top of the screen.
  • You may get an message saying ‘Unable to Verify Certificate’. Tap ‘Cancel’.
  • Open the mail account settings again by tapping the mail account.
  • Tap ‘Account Info’.
  • Tap ‘Use SSL’ to turn it OFF.
  • Go back to the email accounts list.
  • Tap ‘Fetch New Data’.
  • If the ‘Push’ option is off, turn it ON.
  • Press the home button.

Your iPhone in now configured for Push Mail!
